The bright "egg" in the upper right of this image is nebula Gum 85 in Serpens; surrounding it is Gum 84 and surrounding that is Sharpless 54. The open cluster on the left side of the image is NGC 6604. North points to the right. This area of sky is located just north of M16, the Eagle Nebula.

This is an HOSRGB image with 90:90:30:30:30:30 minutes (5 hours total) of exposure. The S-II exposure was cut short by clouds (plus, this was captured late in the summer when it was only visible for a short time each night).
