The short-stemmed rose at the center of the image is Arp 273, consisting of galaxy UGC 1813 (the stem) and UGC 1810 (the flower). These lie at a distance of about 300 million light years, and have been distorted in shape by gravitational interaction with each other. Various smaller and fainter galaxies are scattered about this field, which lies in the constellation of Andromeda.
